Whats the BRT?BRT is short for Bus Rapid Transit. Its the citys express bus service and most of the path is elevated above the surface street.

So whats traffic generally like in Xiamen?Well, there are four bridges and a tunnel connecting the island of Xiamen to the citys four mainland districts.

Where do all the bridges and tunnels lead?They connect to Xiamens mainland districts: Haicang, Jimei, Tongan and Xiangan.

Thats nice, but if I take a bus this traffic jam is not helping me get to the downtown area.Traffic jams are par for the course during morning and afternoon rush hour.

I wish theyd do something about it.More roads just mean more traffic but the good news is that the citys subway system opens this September.

Really？Yes. There are five lines under construction now.
